Title: Smith & Wesson's new M&P .380 EZ
Post by: Badhabit on March 23, 2018, 04:47:09 PM
Has anyone on here had one in their hands yet or shot it on the range? The review I read said that one with the saftey has some issues in that the saftey flips up after a shot. I'd like to see the one with the grip saftey rather than the grip and thumb saftey.

I played with one today.  To me, it felt more like my M&P Compact 22 than my PC Shield 9mm.  That's certainly not a bad thing, just different than my Shield 9.  It's a little longer than the M&P Shield also.  It's very light and takes minimal effort to rack the slide.  The grip safety, for me, just seemed a little odd, but I think a person would probably get used to it fairly quickly after shooting it much.

The trigger is decent but I'm also used to my PC Shield which has a really good trigger.  It's a little slimmer than the Shield but is definitely longer and I think the Shield would probably be easier to conceal but maybe not.

If I was looking for a small .380 as a CCW I'd probably choose the G42 over this new M&P .380 EZ only because the G42 is quite a bit smaller, but if someone was buying this for their wife, the M&P 380 EZ would be a lot easier to shoot, and shoot more accurately, than many of the other small .380's.  The slide on these things cycles with so little effort, just about anyone could easily shoot one of these things and having a little longer site radius should make it easier to shoot more accurately too.

I don't exactly remember what he told me the price was but I think it was something around $360-ish so they're pretty affordable.
