Title: Umtaneum elk
Post by: greenhead_killer on March 23, 2018, 07:38:44 PM
Was out for a drive today off umtaneum road today and going by the shooting pits saw someone decided to use it as a dump site for two bull elk. Kind of bummed to see them dumped right there.

Yuck.

How long do you think they've been there?

I don’t have a problem dumping carcasses in the woods after processing an animal. I have done it numerous times. But this is 25 yards off the road where people use the area. Just disrespectful imo. Could have driven another half mile and tossed in the bushes, out of sight

I think the locals were trying to get the wolves more used to eating elk

Maybe it died at one of the winter feeding sites and the state moved it away.  If you read  the wildlife activity reports from the WDFW they talk about having to do that.
