Title: Salmon river ID
Post by: elkchaser54 on May 08, 2018, 12:30:25 PM
Going on an extended weekend camping trip with a few family members and camping along the salmon river outside of Grangeville, ID and wondering if anyone knows if the last weekend of June there will be fish running through that area and if its worth buying a few day Idaho fishing license.  Steelhead runs might be over ? not quite sure

Thanks

I don't know, but I am curious too.  Just tagging to see if anyone answers the question.

small mouth bass. and you might hit the start of the spring chinook run.  That's typically when it kicks off.

Need to run over to Pittsburg Landing on the Snake for the smallies, some in the Salmon but far from easy.  Some trout too but again not easy.  The chinook run looks to be a bust, good luck

Last weekend of June shld be perfect. Water shld be cleaned up by then and full of salmon. There will still be a few steelhead around as well. Sturgeon fishing can also be good thru that section at times.
