Title: Do's and Dont's of Carbon wrapped Barrels?
Post by: jrebel on May 12, 2018, 07:45:32 PM: This is the first Carbon wrapped barrel I have ever owned. Are there any do's or dont's to consider when shooting, caring for, cleaning, etc.

I handle it the same as I do my stainless rifles. I Have not seen any negatives when doing this.

Just send all the ammo through it then reload and repeat!

Post by: Magnum_Willys on May 12, 2018, 09:22:24 PM: Just watch overheating. They cool fast but also mask the heat so if you go nuts you could be overheating the inside without knowing it.

If you get a barrel cooler you can measure the temp of the air coming out and compare that to your other rifles to get an idea of what you are dealing with.

I wouldn't slather a lot of solvent or oil on it either.

Post by: yorketransport on May 13, 2018, 01:36:58 PM: My only concern would be a exposing the exterior to some of the stronger solvents. The manufacturer may have a list of chemicals which could damage the carbon fiber wrap.
