First things first, for those that have surpressors / cans how long did it take to receive your permit from time of application? Once you have a permit, are you allowed to purchase multiple cans if you’d like or are you limited to one surpressor per permit?
Anyone have experience with SilencerCo. products? I’m working on my application right now so hopefully I’m still excited 7-9 months down the road when I’m finally able to purchase. I’ve heard processing time has improved? :dunno:

The $200 tax stamp has to be paid for each suppressor.

Having used a silencer co can I would saybtheybare pretty awesome. I don't own one, but have seriously considered buying one.

The tax stamp is for one and you need a separate tax stamp for each suppressor. you buy a suppressor, it sits in the gun shops safe until your tax stamp comes back. Mine took 8 months, that was five years ago.
-
It took about 11 months for me to get my stamp. I got it about 6 months ago.

I've bought 2 from them. Easy. Also, buy a TRUST from them too. I did. They have sales on them all the time. You don't need a $1200 CAN either. I have a Palmetto State Armory for my 223 and a Gemtech Tracker for my 22-to-300mag. I can switch that one around between guns. It took about 10 months to get mine.

One of the, multiple, sucky things about purchasing a suppressor is that you have to pay for the can and the $200 tax stamp upfront, then sit and wait 6-12 months before you get to take it home with you and if you purchase a suppressor from a shop out of state, your wait time is even longer.
Since 41F passed back in July 2016 using a "Trust" isn't as beneficial as it was before 41F passed. The wait times for filing as an individual are coming back much faster than for those who used a trust. Individual filed form 4's are coming back in 6-9 months and those who are using a trust are coming back in 9-12+.
Most everyone makes a good suppressor, but if you want the quietest and lightest cans on the market, be prepared to pay a little more for them. I'm very partial to TBAC suppressors, but I have SAS and Dead Air cans as well and they've all been great.

Wait times are tracked here:

They have improved as you can see

I bought a TRUST so my wife can use it if she wishes and they can be passed down to my boy without any BS. I also carry a laminated card with the tax stamp and ID number of each CAN in my wallet.

You can purchase them either way or even both at the same time, it makes no difference.
Doing your Form 4 as an individual then passing your items on to someone after you croak is not that big of a deal. There's a lot of misconception out there with regard to suppressor ownership.

If you've already bought it as an individual and want to switch to a trust, no, not without the headaches you mention. That would be considered another transfer, and require all the paperwork and another $200 tax stamp. That's because you and the trust are separate legal entities.

Great products and service. I have an Octane .45 and a Specwar and am really happy with them. Bought a Harvester last month, currently in jail. Thought I lost a baffle for the Octane and Silencerco just sent one for free.

And it can be in my hands while im switching to trust?

Curious, why would you spend another $200 to change ownership over to a trust?
-
I got my TRUST for free from my gun lawyer friend..

Just for the future,to pass it to my kids.

Willing a suppressor to a family member is relatively simple process and is a free transfer to the beneficiary as he/she is named in your will to get whatever specific NFA items you are passing on to them.
There is nothing wrong with using a Trust, that's what I used but I also had mine setup as well as purchased all my suppressors before 41F was passed so I didn't have to do all the "responsible person" stuff for any and all that I have added to my trust. It's not a big deal, but now, every single person that is added to a trust that is used to purchase NFA items has to go through all the same paperwork/fingerprint cards/passport photos, as the person creating the trust. If you Google "41F Responsible Person" you'll find everything you need to know.

Took about 9 months to get mine. so far I like Silencer co.

Interesting thread, having just used suppressors for the first time in Africa, I'm curious about getting them hear, I know my kids shot very well with the rifles that had them on them. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed shooting them as well.

I recently went out with a friend of mine. He had family in from Germany with little to no firearms experience. Silencers were a great way to warm them up to the idea of shooting. It was already hard enough with a language barrier, bringing the muzzle blast and sound down made things easier for sure. We know AR's for example are easy to shoot, but they sound big and powerful. I really wish they would pass the HPA, it would open up more people to shooting I think in a positive way.

Still waiting on mine been 3 months so another 4-5 months to go 😞 . I order the omega 300 and sparrow 22. Check out Rainier arms in Auburn they have a great supply and do all the paper for you all you need is two passport pictures and two sets of complete finger prints. If your fire or law enforcement they have a Spec program which is about a 20% discount.

I've used suppressors quite extensively and recommend them to everyone. I wouldn't worry about anything from SilencerCo, great products. I've used their Harvester, Saker, Omega and Sparrow. I've also used cans from Griffin Armament and Thunder Beast. My favorite is the Ultra 7 from Thunder Beast, but shooting rimfire with the Sparrow really amps up the fun too.

I have a Gemtech GM-22 and a SilencerCo Omega 300 that I am waiting on. I wanted to do a trust (for my kids and brothers), but the current wait time for a trust is 18 months. It is currently 8 months for an individual (at least that's what I am being told...). I figure that at some point, I will transfer them over to a trust.
One problem with doing a trust, is that every time someone on the trust wants to purchase a NFA item, EVERYONE on the trust must submit another set of passport photos and fingerprint cards.
For anyone wanting to get a NFA item, I would recommend getting an extra set of fingerprint cards and passport photos. I haven't met many people with only one NFA item, and its only a couple extra bucks for two extra sets.
