Title: Trout fishing the Chehalis?

Anyone ever do it or have much success this time of year? I have my nephew coming in to town this weekend was wanting to take him out somewhere close.

Your definetly going to wanta read the regs, I know it opened for spring chinook but not sure if its even open for trout at the moment.

As I read it the whole river is open to trout First Sat. in June-Apr. 15. It would be south of Black River. Where did you see it's open for springers?

the only trout fishing i really know of in there would probably be sea run cutthroat later on in the summer and fall.  there are bass in the sloughs though :tup:

What most people catch and think are trout in the summer are steelhead smolt. There are very very few wild trout in the Chehalis system other than the sea run cutthroat that biggoontuna mentioned and you won't really start seeing them until August.

The kids 4 so just being out with him will be a good time.
