Title: Trail cameras in Montana
Post by: vandeman17 on June 22, 2018, 10:45:41 AM
For anybody who has been wondering, I did some reading last night and made some calls today to make certain. This past year, the Montana commission reexamined the language with regards to trail camera usage and made some changes. As it stands now, it is completely LEGAL to use cameras year around but is ILLEGAL to use any that remotely send pics back to your computer, cell phone etc. I also verified that year around it is ILLEGAL to use any type of food/edible attractants but it is LEGAL to use scents as attractants both in off season and during the season.

Any explanation on why it would be illegal to use a cell signal to send them somewhere?

I didn't ask but I think Montana is one of those states that keeps things somewhat primitive. I tend to agree with the no use on those types of cameras, at least during season

Yeah I choose not to use them for multiple reasons, one being cost, and the other being that I enjoy opening up my cams like a kid on Christmas ;)

The wait and the suspense are half the fun!
