Short story long..... Not participating in general eastern elk season this year. I  Missed submitting my points this year because of work, and I'm taking the opportunity of not being "locked in" to a eastern firearm tag to try my hand at muzzleloader elk on the westside of the state instead. Still narrowing down how I want to approach this hunt. I have the vacation time to take a week and a half, and I also have drawn for multi season deer, hopefully I can capitalize on both. I've Never bothered with Western elk before, and currently I'm weighing the pros and cons of where to even start. The last thing I want to do is just shoot one off someone's field with permission.  Is there any knowledge that can be picked up upon here, that someone may be willing to share?

Thanks
