Title: Halibut rig thought
Post by: birddogdad on June 27, 2018, 07:10:28 AM: I know the norm is a spreader bar out here for h'buts. Have been toying with the idea of a bass drop shot rig vs the bar. Has anyone tried this method? Success or no?

This also will be tried mooching this year by me too...

We fished a grub like that last week with a pipe jig where the weight would be. Both the pipe and grub caught fish....

Post by: Stein on June 28, 2018, 10:51:27 AM: I just run a slider above a huge swivel with the weight attached directly and about a foot or 18" of mono leader and don't have any problem with tangles. If you have inexperienced people on your boat, the spreader can help, but we don't mess with them anymore.

Just make sure your slider can hold the amount of lead you use.
