For anyone who would like a bbq sauce for the 4th of July and doesn’t want the number one ingredient to be high fructose corn syrup. I just made a batch of this sauce. It is fairly close to sweet baby Ray’s. This will keep for a week or 2 in the fridge-
1 bottle organic ketchup
1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1.5 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons onion powder
1 Tablespoon dijon mustard
2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon liquid smoke (you could add more if you prefer a smokier BBQ sauce)
1 teaspoon black pepper
Whisk it all together and simmer it for 5 minutes. The longer you simmer, the thicker it will be.

That sounds pretty good. It might be a little sweet for me. I was also thinking in a future batch I might add a couple dashes of hot sauce.

Sounds a lot like the Oregon cookout king recipe, always have it in the frig. Between the sugar and acid, no problems stored in the refrigerator. Modify the spice mix to taste.

What size is the bottle of ketchup?

24 ounces. I had to use a 20 and add some but the recipe calls for 24 ounces. Sorry about that

Not trying to hijack - but -
Take a 14 oz bottle of Heinz HOT Ketchup, and half of a 12 oz jar of apple mint jelly, and warm in a pan.
Add the one, two or three flavors you want to emphasize - (such as red / black pepper, garlic, Worcestershire, heat in general, etc)
and you are pretty much there.
Again, the more you reduce, the thicker it becomes.

No worries about hijacking, it's all about what flavor you like. Thanks for the unput.

A member who was banned shared one of his bbq sauce recipes. If you can find posts from KC CRACKER you might find his recipe.

That’s a good basic BBQ, you can add lots of stuff to change the flavor for whatever you’re grilling, habeñero will spice it up nicely

Now you can add just the right amount of spice to that BBQ Sauce without buying the whole jar.
Our Fred Meyer's Store now sells the "Spiceologist Brand" mix of spices.
Spiceology Premium Spices in their Nutrition Department's Scoop Out Bin's, allowing you to buy as much (or as little) quality spice that you need to add that pinch of flavor to your favorite recipe.
I liked the "Smoky Honey Habanero Powder" at $15.95 LB. and the Ground Jalapeño Powder at $19.95 LB.
