Title: Phelps Elk Diaphrams
Post by: ridgefire on July 07, 2018, 07:42:24 AM: Can anybody tell me if there is any place in the Seattle to Monroe areas where you can buy Phelps elk diaphrams? I have always used the Bugling Bulls Raging Bull with the Bully Bull grunt tube for bugling and either that or the Mellow Yellow for cow calling. I want to try Phelps diaphrams this season for mainly bugling and Im not a fan of the domed reeds. Anybody have any suggestions on where i can buy them and which diaphrams to try out? Thanks.

I am using the AMP series which has a dome, so I can't steer you other than buy a few, they are about the price of a good beer at a bar - at least that's what I tell myself.

A guy on YouTube has several good series on calls and the differences, Elk Calling Academy and he did a few reviews as well as an interview you might want to check out.

Post by: northwesthunter84 on July 07, 2018, 08:53:45 AM: I run the dragon slayer, It doesn't have a dome. Latex is tight so it's really easy to work. Has produced for me. The new BRO series sounds good too but they have domes.

Talking with the kid about the calls and and I see it it has Charlies pic on it, and he tells me that it is Charlies personal design, but it's not a beginner call and ask if I have used a diaphragm call before? I looked at hi, and said "how old are you"? He says "23", I looked at hi, and said, "I have been using these calls since you were in diapers" :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
Got in the truck, threw it in my mouth and no problem. Grabbed my bugle when I got home have been annoying the wife ever since :tup:
The leprechaun designed a good call :brew: just as the other Phelps calls.

My go too call was Mellow Yellow by Rockey Jacobson.
I picked up the Primos to try and i liked the hafd case but they turned out to be just crap......

But it looks like my line up is changing to the Phelps AMP series :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:

Gotta hit sportco today so I'll grab another for my my son, I think it's easy enough for him to learn on :tup:
