Title: Rafting Wenatchee River
Post by: TC_outdoorsman on July 10, 2018, 01:53:16 PM: I will be rafting the wenatchee river between Leavenworth and Cashmere at the beginning of August. I have a few questions.
-Does anyone know where they rent out rafts or do you have to go through a guide service and have a guided raft trip?
-Where is the beast place to put in and take out?
-Where would be a good place to camp? It can be a campground or just in the mountains.

Back in the early 80's while going to Jr. College in Wenatchee we would go down to Sleepy Hollow bridge with fishing nets and net cans of beer that were floating down to the Columbia river. These all came from the rafters up steam who tipped their rafts over with ice chests in them. On a good day one could get well over a half rack.

I would talk to a guide and go with them as they will have all gear, transportation etc. Lots of places to camp along the Columbia like Lincoln Rock, Daroga, Beebe etc and they are all within 30-45 minutes of Cashmere. You could also go the other way and camp up by Lake Wenatchee.

Yes, the timing is not ideal but we are having a reunion and I figured it could be fun to do since we will be up there anyways.

from what I hear there are places where people just float on tubes and places where they actually raft. I am looking to do the rafting although I recognize that late in the year the rapids wont be great with low water flow.

Post by: ruttnbuck on July 18, 2018, 06:15:48 PM: looks like there's a company called "action rafting" in cashmere that does leisure or actual white water rafting on the Wenatchee but if yout wanted to do it on your own without guide im sure they'll rent the gear to you. I just went last wknd on the deschutes in maupin Oregon on a unguided white water trip,
There was 7 of us and even though my brother in law had done it for years on that river not sure I'd do it again without an actual guide... having a guide takes stress off of you and you can actually enjoy yourself . :twocents:
