But although Ötzi’s fatty diet may have been an optimal way to get and keep enough calories to survive an energetic lifestyle in the frigid, high-altitude environment of the Alps, it may still have taken a toll on his health. A previous CT scan revealed that fatty deposits clogged several of Ötzi’s arteries in a condition called atherosclerosis.

Amazing how many health issues and the possible cures and medicines they have identified he used.

The tattoos are intriguing, here is an article with an hypothesis the tattoos might be related to treatment for Lyme’s disease. With a rendering of what he may have looks like.

Interesting article for sure.  I could do with less of the "grain is good, fat is bad" obvious slant, but interesting none the less.

If you are interested in the human race from a genetics perspective, check out The Insight podcast, I listen to it on my longer workouts and they do a great job with laying out what we know and apply it to a wide variety of topics.
