My dad, myself and my uncle drew as a group for goose prarie. The late October rifle tag. If anyone has any insight they would be willing to share as to where we can find a mature bull or 3 it would be truly appreciated. Local outfitters aren't calling us back, but honestly, I'd rather be on foot so we can't high tail it back to the truck after a couple days if we're not in elk.
Anyone know when the snow flies up there?

There are elk there - if you know the area or get tight with someone who does it can be a great hunt. Had buddies skunked there last year new to the area with limited mobility. We had nearly a foot of snow late Oct last year up high but the animals weren't up that high so much. Lots of areas quads / motorbikes will get into which can be good or bad for you.

What area are you going to concentrate on

I've got several areas marked out that I still need to scout. That said we've talked about coming in from soup creek and working into cash prarie. Also talked about working MT. AIX, and parts of the American ridge trail. The other area that looks appealing is west of bumping lake.

The American ridge to west of bumping along the edge of last years fire could be good.

Soup Creek into Cash Praire area gets pounded pretty hard by spike hunters.
I'd head further East.
If you are up for it, I'd spike out into Wildcat or American Ridge

I wouldn’t let the fact that spike/cow hunters might be in an area change your plans. When I ran into hunters in peaches ridge they asked if I had a bull tag because there was a 5 point coming into there salt lick and using cow calls.

Call me we can put you where the Bulls are ! WPO
