Title: Camping gear organized
Post by: Cab on August 01, 2018, 11:43:48 AM
Hey guys was just curious when your go out camping how to you transport all your gear and keep it organized? I just tote bags but I find myself digging through them all the time and would like to find something that will keep things separated and easy to find. I am mostly speaking to driving to a location and setting up camp not backpacking.

I put all my gear in 20gl rubber maid totes. One for cloths. one for camp gear like pots and pans, dishes ect. and another for extra suff I may need . They keep the dust out and I set them under my truck and out of the weather. Works for me.

I use various size totes and try to pack them as to what there use is, IE: cooking stuff, pantry, clothes, gear etc etc. But i am pretty anal about being organized so i am never searching through to find stuff

Almost exactly like Bob. I have 3 50g Rubbermaid totes with wheels. One for cooking stuff, one for tent stuff, and the other for misc. items. Makes loading and unloading a breeze.

I am a disciple of the rubbermaid tote system.  If you get the stainless food service grade racks at costco, you can set the racks up to fit the size totes you get.  Easy to pack and un pack, just add food, beer, clothes, and kids.  But otherwise, I pack and camp pretty light.

For longer things like tents, sleep pads, etc., I have a few large dry bags to throw them in to keep road dust and weather off them.

As you know, I use vacuum bags for the clothes and a few totes. But this year, I'll have a valet from the 8th-17th. That would be you! Brush up your skills, Jeeves.
