Coaching my son's football team really cuts into hunting season....So, with limited time (can only hunt the week prior to Thanksgiving) I am looking for an outfitter who provides combo hunts. Not looking for any trophies but more about the experience. He's shot 3 deer already so an elk would be the priority and if we had to we could drive to a couple places I've hunted in the past for a deer.
Thanks guys!
BTW, I have researched over 40 different guides so if there are others that I shouldn't use that would be helpful as well. Feel free to PM me if you don't want to make it public.

When we hunted deer/elk last year in MT, we ran into the owner of Anchor P Outfitters near White Sulphur Springs/Ringling. Seemed like a super nice guy and the area he hunted was filled with elk. Of course it was all private so we just had to drive by and wave at all the elk we saw. Check him out, here is his website; http://www.anchorpoutfitters.com/
I was late for the combo drawing this year, but hoping to put in next year and go through Anchor P.

I've been on four trips with Mills and they are a top notch outfitter. I have always gone the week of Thanksgiving on the lost cabin hunt. Just to give you a idea on success I killed four deer and two elk. Good luck!

RM, do you have the tag(s) already?
-
thanks guys...
Wapiti, yes I have a combo tag. And, I initially didn't realize this but there are no quotas on a youth tags. I called Montana licensing and all you have to do is fill out the youth combo application and they will give you youth tags as long as an immediate family member has the tag.

Sending you a PM buddy.

my hunting partner guides for sage peak outfitters. he crosses paths with some bruisers every year. they hunt some superb elk country just outside Yellowstone south of taylor fork. In fact this is the first year that his unit is open to general tag holders. Call em up and see if they have any openings left or pm me and I can get you in touch. Im heading over there for week 4 archery myself. (DIY)

Probably no way to get anything this year though?

Is that in reference to sage peak outfitters?

Thanks Shallow....I will give them a call today but it looked like they only offer combo hunts on a ranch. I'd rather be in a tent and off the beaten path a ways and their wilderness hunts were elk only. Maybe they just don't reference deer on that hunt? It looks like they are a popular outfitter and suggest on their website that spots fill up years in advance but we'll see. Appreciate the reference.

lotta outfitters advertise that they book "years in advance" that doesn't mean anything. you are correct on the combo wilderness hunt they just don't advertise it for deer but my buddy sees nice bucks in there and they will take you after them if you want to pursue, atleast I know my buddy will
