My son drew a bull tag in the 621. We are going up to try and track down a herd and ask for landowner permission this weekend and we know generally where to go. My questions is more about where I might take him for bulls that might be up closer to the park? Any insight is appreciated! His season starts on the 1st of September.

To get a bull up by the park will be a pretty hard earned one, what is it that makes you want to shoot for one by the park just hoping for better size? I'm camping in Brinnon this weekend where we will see elk from camp probably every day. Wouldn't be much of a hunt though, even if you got permission.

Honestly i wouldnt waste anytime hunting near the park, extremely hard to pursue that dream. I would hunt mcdonald creek north to dosewallips staying mostly east of powerlines. Hamma hamma holds elk too but most stick around the farm. Also theres a herd between lilliwuap creek west to price lake. You can access state land from the cushman side. Hard hunt, best of luck

A few years back we did pretty good up on Mount Jupiter

I hope that fire calms down for you guys. I sit on my deck every night looking across the canal and that smoke is thick in the valleys. Have only been able to see Jupiter once in the last few weeks.

I was drawn for the quality deer muzzleloader tag, I’m not thrilled about the fire as the closure area encompasses where i have spent most of my time hunting and scouting in the past. I’ve seen the elk herd north of cushman in the lilliwaup swamp in The past. The closure area is supposed to open the day before my tag starts on Nov 1 so I hopefully can still hunt the areas I know.

Thanks everyone! I've been communicating with the biologist as well and it sounds like the fire isn't going to affect the hunt much. I'm going to run up today and see what I can find. Thanks!
