I'm sure there's a "few" more guys in the same boat ..seems to happen earlier and earlier every year...one day at work this last week I'm driving to one of my stops and and looking into an area I usually see elk and there it is, the first bull of the season shedding velvet and that's when it hit hard....the hunting bug...it's been hard to concentrate everyday knowing elk opener is right around the corner. I went home and started getting my camping stuff ready...the wall tent is going to go up tomorrow to make sure everything made it through the winter storage, got my check list ready and started checking things off...3 more weeks of pain and suffering and the hard task of concentrating on work, it gets more difficult as the days get closer.
Hi, I'm Tom and I'm an elkoholic

Two days ago out towards the coast, I was doing brushwork in the woods and heard a couple bulls bugling from different ridges around 11:00 in the morning. It has been about five or six years since I'd even heard a bull going off down here - I can't remember if this was early or just normal. Regardless, I'm calling it a good sign!

I scouted all weekend and put some big up & down miles on my boots. Been thinking about the things I have to do to the trailer and all the gear I have to get together. 3 weeks off this year and I'm making the most of it for sure. I've had a problem for a long time.

I got 3 weeks off for hunting for the first time... It s been a long year of waiting for vacation but will be well worth it...I need the time away from work...getting burnt out throwing cases of beer all summer for you guys :chuckle:

I have been bow hunting elk now for 26 years and it never gets old, I can't say the same for my body though. The anticipation, the excitement, the jitters whats not to love. My wife wishes I would get that excited about our marriage after 26 years, I tell her that elk season only comes around once a year. After that comment it didn't go well.
I have two weeks off this year to chase elk around the woods, first hunt September 6th & 7th Idaho then Washington 8th through 16th then back to Idaho 22nd through 30th

18 days and counting. one of my co-workers and hunting partners starts the count down about mid July so pretty much everyday I hear how many days to go. We go through the same thing for late season and turkey season every year. LOL
