Thinking of hunting Archery season for elk in the GMU 673. Haven't done any scouting there yet, but was mainly wondering about camping on the Oxbow creek, Trap creek east side of the unit. I know there is some DNR land up in there, are the roads all closed gates?

It's legal to camp on DNR land.

All the roads are open that aren't otherwise gated. 8) 8) :chuckle:

Gets pretty crowded out there these days for archery elk. I went out the other week and all the timber company gates were closed with signs that said “extreme fire danger, no public access at this time” . The DNR lands were open though so good luck out there man!

true Yogi Berra wisdom right there...

:chuckle: You are mostly right. However I know of one road in that unit that doesn't have a gate but it does have a sign that says it's walk in only. No motorized vehicles. It's on a chunk of Green Diamond land.

Went down there to bear hunt a few weeks ago, a lot of the good places are closed for fire danger. So it’s goibg to put most people on state land going to get crowed during archery than normal...

it will be just as crowded as last year since all the timber company land was closed till the last 4 days of the hunt last year it's becoming the normal it seams like maybe we need to get the archery hunt a week later in the season on the next season setting process.
