The Cougar Creek fire burning between Chiwawa (Wenatchee side) and Entiat on Entiat Ridge is settled down enough so the road reopened today.
Access to the trails has been restored. Trail maintenance on the Wenatchee River Distrist has been pretty well completed. The Entiat wilderness trails have, mostly, not been logged out since 2013 and no maintenance this summer. Expect a lot of logs to step or climb over if you plan to hunt the upper Entiat. Photo Entiat River Trail about 9 miles in.

Great to hear! Thanks for the info!

Since they won't clear the trails. Why can't you get the contract to do it.

The Entiat R.D. did plan to do Wilderness trail work this summer but they work the non-Wilderness first waiting for the snow to melt. Fire started July 28th before the Wilderness trails and crew were ready. Don't know if it is lack of "will" or lack of money that stalled the 2017 trail work. It is OWNF (Okanogan Wenatchee National Forest) policy that kept closures in place in 2014 and 15 then the fire started (Wolverine in 2015) and 2016 remained closed by the Forest Service; reopened last summer 2017 but less than 5 miles of Wilderness trail was cleared (mostly by WTA & Youth Corps). It is a mess up there.

I'm assuming the Myrtle lake bridge is still a frame without decking? If So people might need to plan on getting wet if they are hiking in
