Title: D2 Steel for Game Processing?
Post by: Tiger1358 on September 19, 2018, 02:00:13 PM: Pretty sure there are several knife makers on this forum, was wondering how D2 does when processing game. I got tons of knives for myself, just wanted to send a D2 knife as a gift to someone who's a hunter and I've never really used that steel, so can't say anything about it.

Does anybody have any experience using D2 for field dressing or just overall meat processing. Does blood really affect that steel, since it's "semi-stainless"? Any chipping when cutting the bone or so forth?

I know its a great strong steel and good knife steel. It does not polish well and is more prone to corrosion/rust. So make sure it is clean and dry after use.

They sell the ones with black coating on the blade, which protects from corrosion (at least that's what they claim) but that coating usually comes off early.
