Title: First 40D Pictures
Post by: need2huntmor on March 18, 2009, 03:55:50 PM: I'm slowly learning how to use everything on my new camera. The reason I finally stepped up to a dslr was to be able to get photos like this. This is with the 17-85 IS lens that came with the camera. I'm really itching to get a telephoto. I know there was recently a thread on telephotos, but I think they were in the $1200 range. Any suggestions for a telephoto that is a little more "reasonable". I can't swing that much for a lens right now. Any suggestions on lenses, and photography in general, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hopefully I can get this picture to load correctly.

There are some cheap options with 3rd party lenses from companies like Sigma. You gotta start somewhere...
