Sucked A$$....... as expected, I could not give it my all, my knee just could not do it :bash:
Dam near fell over backwards on the first day of the hunt tripping over some branches, luckily for me my son was behind me to catch me and push me back up when I started to fall back :chuckle:
Bulls were not bugeling, didn't see my first elk until 4 days in to the hunt and it's was a cow. I am highly disappointed in my hunt, my knee prevented me from doing 95% of what I wanted or needed to be successful.
Now with that said, it was an awesome season in camp my son John shot his first bull and is now an elkaholic
Gotta give a big thanks to Justin (Elkrunner) he gave up his hunting time to help John and Brian (Low97ram) try and fillmtbeir tags. He knows the area much better then us, so he took John out Monday afternoon in a deep dark steep canyon to look for elk. They played with one but he would not commit. Tuesday he took John and Brian back out in the morning, but could not locate the bull. Wednesday John and Brian set out on their own to try and locate the bull and just decide to go fast around one last time, and ended up locating the bull three ravines over, so got in touch with them and they all went in. It was 3 hour cat mouse game, at one time Brian had the bull at 22 years but could not see it through the brush. John finnaly had a clear shot and put an arrow through the breadbasket at 55 yards. It ran about 40 yards and crashed between two tree's :IBCOOL:
Gotta give a special thanks to those forum members who help out and kept in contact with me during the hunt offering up advise, you guys are awesome :brew:
I did have one encounter with a bull, I was sitting in a meadow that we had pic of 3 different elk during the last week, he started bugeling about 7 am on Wed and we talked back and forth for about 30 min. He walked the trail to the meadow I was hunkered down in, went about half way, didn't see the elk that was talking to him, so he turned around and left :bash: :bash: :bash:
Had a Montana decoys set up on the other side of the meadow but he didn't walk the trail far enough to see it. I did hear him walking away about 30 yards behind me and could do nothing, at that point the wind was now blowing in his dissection.
Here are some pic. I got the text that they got a bull at 12:30, last part of the elk made it out of the woods at 6:55 pm.
One more thing, the RAD, Rival 125 grain broadhead did their job perfectly

Sorry your knee was giving you fits but good job still enjoying what you could.
As for the pics if they are on your phone trying doing a screen shot on your phone and using that pic. That is what I have to do with my iPhone.

Great story on your son getting his first bull. Glad it all worked out for him. When you draw the tag again, your knee will be better. With all the things you learned on this trip the next Tag will be a lot easier.

Nice bull! I am glad you guys had some luck.

It sucks having knee issues.
I always wear a brace in the sticks since I have no ACL.
Congrats on a fun season and a bull in camp.
