Has anybody used bloodline 250grain sabots for elk ive had poor luck with hornady sst was recommended bloodline

The 300 grain Bloodline would be better for larger animals. I have taken 8 or 9 deer with the 300 grain Bloodline, wothout much meat loss. Tremendous knockdown power.

Seems like Sabotloader was liking this bullet, might reach out to him. He is a wealth of information.

Just my thoughts... certainly the 250 Bloodline can harvest an elk! and I am sure someone has done it. My only concern would be the range at which you might shoot. I totally prefer the .458-300 for elk hunting, but I am also planning on having more bullet than I probably would need. In that I mean I want a bullet that would allow me to shoot 200 yards and have enough accuracy, energy, and terminal performance to insure a clean harvest.
These two ballistic tables could possibly show you the ballistic difference of the two bullets.
First the 250 grain bullet.... this sheet was computed for a .452x250 grain Speer Gold Dot - not a Bloodline but the numbers would be very close in either bullet including the BC.

This is a the computed sheet for the .458x300 Bloodline

Hope this shows you what you might need to know...

I tried the 300 grain but my gun shot the 250 much better i was having a hard time keeping 10in group at a 100 yards with themthe 250 was around 3in groups. I am shooting triple 7 do you yhink i should change powder and try the 300s again?

Poor luck? Explain
-
Black hog which rifle are you shooting and which powder are you currently using?
Do you have any of the 300's and sabots left on hand?
Should ask about ignition system also - are you going to make the switch to 209 or stay with caps?

I am somewhat surprised you can even get the Bloodline 300 down your bore. It is a .458 bullet and the sabot that comes with it is the only one made for a .458...
Since you are shooting BH - and in a TC - I think I would suggest you look at another Lehigh bullet avaialable form Lehigh Defense.

The velocity you see on the chrono was from shooting T7-2f
If you were to shoot 120 Volume of BH that velocity would be above 2000 FPS. At that speed the bullet is very close to a 300 Bloodline in energy.

And the positive for you is the bullet so you have 3 sabots that you can choose to shoot. You probably would need a MMP HPH-24.

Could meet in the middle and shoot the 275 grain? That’s what I’ve been shooting. They are tough to get started down the berral in my disc extreme though

That is really a great all-around bullet

But that tough loading is why I was suggesting the .452-265. It has the same Theory of Operation as does the Bloodline
