So i picked up a Browning xbolt pro long range in 300wm. I intend on breaking in the barrel and wanted to know your thoughts on if I can use cheap jacketed ammo for break in only instead of my spendy factory ammo I hunt with? Then after break in, I'd sight it in for hunting with the ammo I'm going to hunt with.

Run what ya brung.
I've used both....my fancy pants rounds and lower cost factory. No difference in results that I can see.

I normally shoot 190gn accubonds in my other 300wm but I also have a full box of 180gn PPU ammo and a box of 180gn federal soft points. The cheap stuff that I have is what I was wondering if it's ok for the break in process?

Be aware of Winchester Super-X. Lots of problems with that stuff. I've had loose bullets and bulged necks in multiple boxes.

I'd shoot it.

Yes, that'll work just fine for break-in.

Well looks like I'm going to have to wait to break in the rifle, they sent me the wrong rifle. Now I need to get the company to get it switched for the out for the right one. Very frustrating since it took 2 weeks to get this one to my FFL.

You can find the Federal Non-Typical or Powershok (same exact thing in different packages) in 300WM for less than $20 per box. That's what I use for those purposes. It actually shoots MOA from my Savage 111 at 100 yards , so you can use it for coyotes and stuff too
