Title: New to hunting Mulies: GMU 346
Post by: rashannon81 on October 03, 2018, 06:33:06 PM
Never hunted Mule deer before, but i have a cabin available for use and time on the second weekend of the season. From what I'm reading the population and success rate are pretty low. But from studying the topos and Google Maps I can see some areas where I can hike in and glass. I'm a hell of shot and I'll be using my Ruger american 6.5 creed, where I've had 5" groups at 750 yards.

Good advice for hunting these deer in such low density? Would a canyon be a good lookout to glass from the top?

Any and all input is appreciated. Thanks!

HA! I didn't know there was such thing as a "6.5 Creedmore guy" it was just the best all around rifle I could find for the money!

Do you usually hunt 346? I am not afraid to do some serious hiking if it'll put me into the deer. I was planning on doing a detailed scan of Fifes peak to see if there's any old wise ones hiding in the rough terrain.
