Hey guys, after another unsuccessful (but very fun and invigorating) trip to E WA I’m looking at tag soup again. Living in Redmond extremely limits my hunting capabilities after work. If anyone has experience in the sultan basin please PM me it would be very appreciated. I’m not asking for where to go, just a couple general questions about the area/ access points.
Thanks!

I can help if you got questions...Also you got some good public land to hunt deer about 15 mins away from you in Carnation/Duvall

Thanks! Pm sent!

Honestly it's not worth your time in my humble opinion. I live up that way and on Saturday morning I pulled by a gate with 9 trucks. 9!!!
Bucks are few and far berween

Put in 8 miles this afternoon and evening. Didn't see a single deer.

See any pairs of deer? :chuckle:

on the contrary, When I drove by yesterday at noon there were only 2 trucks at each gate on Kellogg lake rd

Nope but was sure hunting. However, if you are a cougs fan and have a blind still up with two cougs chairs in it I found you blind.

Hey thanks guys I appreciate you looking out for me but I wasn’t asking about the prospects. Good chance or barely any my tag ain’t turning into soup without a fight!

Don’t forget your bear tag.

I went up last Saturday. I was first one at the gate, and last one to leave. I didn't hear one opening day shot. I didn't even see deer eyeballs in my headlamp morning or night. I've never seen it like that as long as I've been hunting it.

I know an archery hunter took a buck off Kellogg Rd. He had to ask my coworker for permission to search private property. It crossed the property, but was found just back on timber property.

Campbell started spraying the roadsides hard 2 years ago in that area. I have seen a big reduction in bear and deer sign after that.

:yeah: I've noticed the same thing. I wander if its killing them or just driving them out because of lack of food or the taste of it? Whatever it is , it's the only thing that makes sense. Place should be crawling with deer and bear with all the clear cuts now.

A few weeks ago had a doe coming at me near that " infamous" blind, not knowing i'm standing in the middle of the road, she stopped at 15 yards, wheezed a couple times, and slowly left.

Poached out.
Nothing in there, it used to be pretty good.
I agree lots of land around Carnation/ Duvall that doesnt get the pressure the Basin gets all the time.
