Does a 6.5 kill a bear prety good?
-
Shot placement is key. It has the speed and with a good bullet, you'll have a dead bear.
Maybe try the heavier options, 140gr or more :twocents:
-
It's Creedmoor. 140gr Partition will easily kill anything you'll ever hunt in Washington.
-
Absolutely. I run a magnum, but wouldn't hesitate to shoot a bear with 6.5 CM. Precision beats power !
-
Thanks everyone, I was planning on getting one but because there are a lot of bears where I hunt I just wanted to be sure that I was getting a gun that would do the job properly if I happen to see one.

My Creedmoor killed a black bear at 400+ yards with some hornady 143 grain ELDX. Just remember if you get one you also have grow a man bun, wear a flat brimmed hat, drink Mtn Ops, and drive a TRD.
-
Use the 6.5CM with confidence on black bear. The 143 eld-x is a great bulletin choice. Apparently my cowboy hat and Filson vest is the wrong uniform for using this cartridge but what the hell.

Lol I’ve had my creedmoor for 5 years so my hickory and romeos and red Sox hat is a OG style..lol
-
Put your hair in a manbun and the 6.5 Creed will kill anything. ;)

Like others have said, it's all about shot placement.
Double lung 'em and you have a dead bear with the 6.5 just like a 25/06, 270, 30/30 etc.
Miss 'em or put on in the guts and you may have well missed with a 458win mag.
The saying I taught my kids is:
Your first best shot is a clean kill.
Your second best shot is a clean miss.
Never pull the trigger if you know it's just not there.
-
the ribs of a bear are thinner than a whitetail. Shooting a Cheytac or a 243 if you do not hit both lungs, heart or a spine its more than likely gone.
-
Saw a 130 grn Berger pass through a sow at 458 yards this year. Just gotta put it in the right spot

I sooner believe you saw someone do it from that range rather than you saying you did it from that range. :chuckle:
