Just because your gun is threaded does not mean it was threaded precisely enough for a suppressor. Most are, but I have seen some guns that were not aligned well enough for suppressors and resulted in bullet strikes in the baffles. A gunsmith or gun wise machinist can check that out for you.
Affecting the performance? Most of the time, it has no negative effect on the accuracy of the rifle. It can help accuracy just due to the extra weight. What it will almost always do is change the impact point due to the extra weight on the barrel. Most guns sighted in for the suppressor will not have the same point of impact as without it. It adds a lot of length and weight to the barrel.
Cost?
All over the map. $200 for the tax stamp, and from there you're into it by several hundred dollars unless you're a machinist and make your own.
Have you tried shooting the gun without the break? Lighter loads and no break might be just the ticket for you rather than putting in $1,000. For me, if it takes a muzzle break to shoot it, I'm looking at a different load or cartridge. I just really despise the noise from those breaks.

I currently own a Christensen Mesa 300 win mag. It has a muzzle brake on. Great gun. Shoots to my expectations. The only thing that I dislike about the gun is how loud it is. Is there much to adding a suppressor and will it effect the performance of the gun? Also, what brand of suppressor would you suggest and what price should I expect to pay. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
For me, I think a suppressor benefits the rifle in every way except one, the added length, but even then, it's worth it to me.
If I was looking for the best .30 cal can I could get, it would be a Thunder Beast Ultra 7 and it'll run you about a grand.
I have a few of their cans and they are top notch. Their CS is second to none as well.

I would expect to see a noticeable change in how the gun shoots with a suppressor mounted on such a light profile barrel. It may not shoot worse, but I'd be very surprised if it shot the same load with the same accuracy with and without the suppressor.
The weight of a suppressor is probably going to add at least 9-10oz to the gun. Why buy a light weight gun, then add more weight to it?
Adding an extra 7-9" to a 24" barrel makes for a very long rifle. I'm a bit biased here just because I prefer 20-22" barrels and consider 24' a long barrel on a hunting gun.
For the cost of a suppressor, you could buy some very nice electronic hearing protection and an awful lot of batteries. That would help solve the noise problem
Suppressors are pretty fun and they're great for some applications, but I have a lot of other projects I could get started for $1000. :twocents:
