Tomorrow I kick off what I’ll refer to as round #2 of a year dubbed Trifecta. Last month was my Peaches Ridge Muzzy Hunt, the next few days will be SE Idaho modem elk, and November will round off the Trifecta with my Swakane mule deer hunt. I feel so dang lucky to not only have 3 hunts planned this year but each of them are unique in their own way; lots of quality time with family and friend.. I’ve got surprisingly good cell service so I’ll update along the way; I think it’d be fun to routinely update as this will be something I can look back on years down the road.

What unit in SE Idaho?

How’d your muzzy hunt go? You staying in Paris for your Idaho hunt? Good luck!!

Good luck, look forward to seeing how the rest of your season unfolds!

Day #2, finally into elk. Have seen over a dozen bulls today, one of which might be a shooter. He’s bedded in a very tricky spot, not to mention his harem of cows is over 100 head. We’re pouring over the maps trying to find the best approach to get a closer look. Stay tuned

Sweet, it’s always amazing to see that many elk in a herd when your hunting! Good luck

That badger will easily hit B&C all time awards.

Thanks all! Was a fun hunt, something completely different chasing those elk in the sage. This guy gave me a run for my money, started my stalk at 11:30 a.m., squeezed the trigger at 6:00 p.m. I feel very fortunate.

Nice bull and a bonus badger too, congrats!

Thanks All for all the kind words. I’m happy to share specifics over PM’s but I’ll tell you I wouldn’t recommend this unit. I got lucky, no if, ands or buts about it. This unit is 95% private with the rest BLM. The private is locked up tighter than a .... I bet a lot of tag holders end up eating tag soup becuause of that unknown fact. I’ll admit, I didn’t do my homework before but ended up on the lucky side of the dice.
Best of luck this fall! Looking forward to seeing more pics and stories to come here on hunt WA.
