Hey hunt wa taking a couple teenagers over to s.e. wa during Thanksgiving break to hunt some whitetails. Hoping to catch them still rutting. Never having hunted them in open spaces before I'm looking for tips advice, or tactics from those that have experience in this type of hunting situation. Most of the terrain will b rolling hills and gullies. We will b hunting public land, and also some ffh and register to hunt. Is this going to be more spot and stalk, maybe rattling, still hunting thru deep gullies? Use scents?Any advice would be appreciated. Best of luck to everyone on their late hunts. Thanks Kram

Thats a good hunt. That hunt was one of the main reasons I am exclusively a muzzy hunter now. There are a lot of deer. Period. What area are you going to focus on? Anatone, Asotin?

We've only got 3.5 days to hunt so my plan was to start on the north side of the unit and keep heading south till we find some whitetails then if they are still rutting sit on the does. But like I said hunting Whitey's in wide open spaces is pretty new to me. I've got one teenager who is a newbie on the 1 year defferal ( cousin's son 15yrs old) who'd I would really like to help him get his first deer and my son 17. So seeing deer and having fun is the most important. But man it would be nice to get the kid his first deer. Nothing like seeing the smile on someone's face when they get their first.
