Title: Green Light Red Light, which is better

Started hunting coyotes at dusk and dawn on private land. Friend recommended using a colored flashlight. Did some research with no clear info what color might be be better. Any suggestions or am I wasting time?

I like green light.... it means go..lol, although I know someone that uses a red light.

Research says a coyote sees the blue spectrum and can't see red well.  I've also read a poll of hunters using green, white, and red with similar results.  Red is better for human eyes at night, but dome lights and headlights hurt your night vision temporarily anyway.

What I've found is while you need every advantage, nothing is more important than good woodsmanship.  I'm not sure what's going on in Texas where the coyotes run up to the truck like a house dog amidst all the clanging, banging, fist bumps, and "booyahs!"  They don't do it here.
I have more success at noon when it's hot than anytime at night.  I think because at night you're hunting at your natural disadvantage and the coyote has every advantage.  He can see clearly, always has the wind direction, can hear you stumbling in the dark.  That a coyote is active doesn't mean he's easier to find or hunt, it means he's on his game.
I use red.  Good luck!

I don’t know about green, but I have a red light and the coyotes don’t notice it.

My green light doesn't seem to spook coyotes, deer, hogs, or bears. I have used them in multiple states so not breaking any laws. Start off the animal and bring in slowly. Have a light with you year round so you can see for yourself when it doesn't matter. No real experience with red but that's what my buddy likes. If I remeber correctly green can be seen further.

Ive been wanting to jump into the ir or thermal world but holy smokes they're expensive! I couldn't even pull the trigger on a 'wicked lights predator pack' lights lol
