Anyone have one/ shot one? It looks like it might be a fun little plinker.
-
I have shot one and it was a good accurate rifle. It ran flawlessly. It is practical but ugly to my eyes.

I've shot one, fun and accurate gun. I prefer my CZ scorpion however. Price is cheaper on the Ruger though.

Oh, it's ugly as hell. But the others I've seen on the market are even uglier. If it had a walnut stock I'd buy one today.

Have you looked at the KelTec SUB-2000? They're not very pretty either but they are kinda fun to shoot.
-
I think it’s a great concept and ver inovative if them to think about using Glock mags. I really hope that they offer an adapter to use m&p mags as well

Just online. I'm not sure if I could ugly up my safe with something like that. Just not my cup of tea. Of course being a wood snob certainly limits the autoloader market!

There was one for sale on here recently in the classifieds.
Edit to add... Found it. Still for sale.

All 9mm carbines are fun to shoot.

I imagine so! Ammo's pretty cheap, and a substantial step up from the 10/22.

The Sig MPX pistol with arm brace would be a pretty sweet setup and a lot of fun to shoot suppressed. I have a Sig MCX pistol which is the 223 version. I'd like to get the MPX but I think my wife would probably balk at that idea. Not sure why, I even said she could shoot it too.

They just don't understand!

I know, right?! Here awhile back I mentioned to her we needed to either get another safe or sell the one we have and get a bigger one because it was getting hard to get things in and out of it without bumping into to stuff. She had the gall to say, no we don't need another or bigger safe, YOU, just need to sell some stuff. I think she's lost her dam mind when she talks like that.

Honestly, I can't complain. The day after modern season, I mentioned that some day I might think about getting a muzzleloader... She said, "I was gonna tell you tonight that you should get one now so you can hunt this year!" Don't have to tell me twice! (unless it's to take out the garbage!) :chuckle:

Mr UPS just dropped off some parts for my Saturday afternoon project. She didn't say much, just kinda rolled her eyes. I said what, you told me I needed to put my free time to good use. :chuckle:

You got it for her, right?!

Oh yeah, mmhmm, absolutely!

Since I already stepped out of the box buying an unconventional (for me) rifle, I'm thinking maybe I should try something new on top. What can you all tell me about red dot sights, or any other options?
-
Did you get the Ruger?

Yes. Well, I ordered it, but haven't seen it yet.

I just grabbed one myself. I put a Sig Romeo red dot on it. Have not had time to shoot it yet. Should here in the next week or so.

Have you used the Romeo on anything else? Which one? There's a pretty big price range.

What about the mech tech uppers turning your glock, 1911, or S&W into a carbine?

Of course I'd need to own a Glock, 1911 or S&W!

Or even better, all three at the same time.

I tried an Eotech on mine and it would not fit on the larger rail. Put a Leupold 1.5x4 on it with Warne mounts. Just waiting on warmer weather to take it to the range. Hornady makes some impressive ammo in that caliber that should be awesome for home defense.

They are great. But if you don't already have the pistol, it can be cheaper just to buy a carbine.

Yes I have 3. All Romeo 5's: one of the cr battery and 2 of the aa or triple a models.
One on a AR and one on a keltec CMR.

Got it all slapped together last night. It's ugly as hell, but should be a good way to burn up ammo and kill beer cans!

Flat Fact there...and I have one set up for S&W mags from my 5906/915....its in a bag of good to get me home.
Also have a Beretta CX-4 Storm Carbine...its heavy but a gas to shoot and shares mags with my B-92F.
I looked a the Ruger, but it meant yet another magazine type (and I would have to get a pistol for a partner too)....

The only handguns I own are a .357 revolver and a .22, so that wasn't part of the equation.

Finally got to the range and boy is this thing a blast to shoot. Took 3 shots at 25 yards and made a sight adjustment, then put five 17 round mags through it. The last two mags were shot by a couple teenage kids from my daughter's class that I was shooting next to, one of which was shooting for the first time, thus the outliers (or at least I like to think it was them and not me!) First time shooting with a red dot and it's pretty cool.
I foresee a lot of beer cans meeting their demise in the near future!

True, I looked at it from the standpoint that if you built an 80% lower for the Glock or 1911 you could have 2 guns with the same mags and feel. I thought i read some where they were going to try and do an XD80% in the future..

My buddy bought one just recently, we shot it before Christmas at the range. Very nice. He put a red dot on it and even I could drill the target well with it.
