I have gone dry in the last 5 months (like 40+ stands with no luck). I’ve thrown everything I have at em using both FoxPro and hand calls. I’m hunting mostly large timber due to my location (JBLM), NE of Olympia, shotgun only. Setting up with a crosswind, call is 30 yards in front or to my 11 or 1 o’clock position. I’ve normally went with a coyote interrogation and then a female invitation for 7-8 minutes on and off, then some different kinds of cottontail and jackrabbit distress off and on for 7-8 minutes and then finish with a kiyi or pup distress off and on for 7-8 minutes. Lately I’ve been so desperate I’ve sent blue jay, nutty nut Hatch, ranting red bird, squirrel, vole and mouses squeaks downrange and still nothing! Any ideas that could break my slump? Picture is from August, the last time I had anything on the ground.

Can you hunt the SE corner of the post.?Out by Roy?

Are you making the same stands over and over? Maybe try a venue change.

Try only using the rabbit for whole stand, I like to sit about 20 minutes or so, if that does not work try the same tactic for the bird noises. try to save your pup in distress for later in the year.

As it gets colder it will get better

Yes, I am in that area. Unfortunately, the military installation doesn’t allow much more than shotgun or archery in most of the training areas.

Personally i dont use rabbit at all, too many people using it. Coyotes hears rabbit all the time. Throw something that they never heard, birds, rodents. I use birds and only birds and it works great. Good luck !!!
