Title: Alaska/Yukon Territory Moose Guides & Outfitter Recommendations?
Post by: chukar hunter on November 27, 2018, 08:20:04 AM
Hey All,

Looking for input and advice on planning a 2020 guided moose hunt.  My father is aging, 70 next year, and his mobility isn't what it used to be.  He's still pretty active, though isn't physically capable of doing a DIY drop camp or float hunt with much success or enjoyment.  Looking to get input on a wilderness experience type hunt with a good success rate for Alaska Yukon Moose.  I'm willing and wanting a guided hunt to increase the odds in his favor and mine:).  My first thoughts are either a jet boat or horseback type of hunt but have no starting point other than google.  Any recommendations or suggestions on where to start?  I'll be doing my homework and calling previous clients both successful and not to try an vet out any "$h@ne B@rBers" of the world.....Appreciate any comments.  PM if you prefer.  Thanks!

Nick

I hunted the Yukon in 2016 and had an amazing hunt.  It was with a smaller outfitter (Reynolds Outfitting with only 4 moose hunters per year) so he gets booked out years in advance.

I would highly recommend Bonnet Plume Outfitters.  They take some amazing bulls every year and have an operation set up for a variety of access methods.  Also, I would'nt rule out some of the NWT outfitters as well.  Canol Outfitters, Mckenzie Mountain Outfitters, and Nahanni Butte Outfitters all take some great bulls and with it being in the NWT, retrieval can be easier with the use of heli's.

Just my 2 cents.  Good luck, I wish I was planning another moose hunt up there!
