Missouri poacher's sentence includes monthly, viewings of 'Bambi'.
Take that, Mr. Poacher... I wonder if any of his cell block mates are going to sit in on the compulsory screenings with him...

Sounds like cruel and unusual punishment
But this dbag deserves it.

Personally I don't like the idea of a judge having this kind of power...they are supposed to go by guidelines set out by the state and when we have a judge go "rogue" on a sentencing then before you know it we have judges making grizzly bear decisions for neighboring states and guides get mauled and killed...
Grade
PS. I'd rather the poacher get a longer and harsher sentence than adding watching a Disney movie...after all, I know when I was a kid and saw Bambi the poaching scene was all of about 15 seconds, but that buck at the end of the movie...BANG! :)

This kind of power? :chuckle: The guy's going to jail for a year, which is more than any of the defendants in Operation Cody here in WA. Watching Bambi once a month is meant to humiliate him. Maybe the judge is hoping to reduce his chance of recidivism. I think it's funny stuff, personally. Rogue? Hardly.

:yeah:
I wish our judges would do that and a lot more when it comes to offenders responsible for illegal take of dozens or even hundreds of deer!
-
I don't give a darn about Bambi as it really doesn't seem all that important but I am happy to see a legit sentence. Need more of these
-
I don't know what Bambi has to do with poaching?
-
:dunno:
Edit out some of the fluff and there's some good hunting scenes.
-
Make him watch the English Patient...now that's punishment. :chuckle:

Or, back to back episodes of "The View" although that could be deemed as cruel and unusual punishment.

Required listening to one hour of "1-877 Kars4Kids" commercials daily for one month. That should cure anyone of just about anything.

I don't know what Bambi has to do with poaching?
Well, Bambi's mother was shot by poachers, not legal hunters, although I think that this is only clear in the book. The book, incidentally, was written in Austria in the 1920s about the life of a roe deer.
Anyway, it is presumably a humiliating punishment to be made to watch an anthropomorphic children's movie...

Ok. I knew that she was shot but I guess I never thought about it as poaching.

That is just plain good marketing. There was some random kid (6-8) strolling down the road in front of our house singing that jingle.

I'm not a big Bambi kind of guy, I much prefer Peter and The Wolf :chuckle:
Lots of celebrating of Pete and his comrades for their successful hunt.
-
what the hell? was this a millennial judge thinking this was going to hurt? :bash:
-
Just keep shaking my head
-
I hate that the referenced article refers to him as a 'hunter,' he is a 'poacher.' I wish the media would not use the terms together or interchangeably, as there is a big difference.

Close.....He's a republican baby-boomer
-
Could be the judge is coming up for election soon? Easy and free publicity for him...

You guys are just searching for something to get mad at. He gave the guy a year in jail. That's a serious sentence. We don't throw anyone in jail for poaching here. Forget the stupid Bambi portion of the sentence. He got a year.

The Stearns guy from Aberdeen got a bit of jail time.
-
Did I miss in the article where it said what punishment his dad and brother received? Says they likely killed hundreds of deer. Seems like all of them should be doing jail time but seems this guy got jail time because he wasn't allowed to have a firearm. I should go back and read the article a little slower.

Yes, and that was unusual for WA. I think he got 90 days, right?
