Republic, Washington, considers becoming a ‘sanctuary city’ to protect gun rights

I wonder what gun laws they would enforce? Could a felon have a gun there? Are sawed off shotguns, and fully auto rifles going to be acceptable?

If you read the article it's I-1639 they are against. I wish more law enforcement would take that position!

That's it? The "sanctuary" is for 18-21 yes olds to own/buy ARs and to sell guns to people that can't legally own them??

Sounds like you are a 1639 supporter! :o
I'm not their spokesman, I know there's a lot more to 1639 than what you say, read the story and google it if you want more details.

I agree with you on this one. A 20 year old combat vet should not be able to purchase or possess a Military grade semi autoRuger 10/22 or a scary looking S W m&p 22 rifle.
Mandatory felony and one year in prison
Next time I see someone hunting with tikka 308 during deer season I’m going to call the police and report him/her for possessing a military grade high powered sniper rifle
This is currently happening in progressive states like Washington
We have to save the children!!

I'm not a support of the initiative. I think the "sanctuary" status for the initiative is pretty stupid though. I was wondering if that was all they were trying to do... ?

What they're trying to do is show public protest and resistance against a clear violation of the 2nd amendment. I wish more municipalities and LE agencies would show some backbone and follow suit. Would you rather they just showed complacency and bent over like everybody else? Also if you think the initiative only has to do with 18 year olds buying AR's you should do some research. That type of uneducated misinformation is the exact reason why this garbage was allowed to pass in the first place.

Ag Ferguson and his cronies just filed a "high capacity" magazine ban for the upcoming legislastive sessions as well . Wonder what republic has to say about that nonsense

King county is a sanctuary for violent convicted felon illegal aliens. King county refuses to notify DHS when the arrest a violent felon ( rape, murder, child molesting, narcotics traffickers) illegal alien as mandated by federal law. They are released where they can continue their violence and harm against the citizens.
So the state is protecting violent dangerous convicted illegal alien felons over its tax paying law abiding citizens
The state now chooses to allocate limited resources to vigorously prosecute law abiding US citizens for exercising their civil rights . These prosecutions do nothing to protect public safety.
Talk about a loony tune progressive nightmare this state has become.

That ban would make many of the progressive members on here pretty happy.

Republic is not a sanctuary city. A better term would be a constitutional city. It is standing up for the US Constitution.
A sanctuary city is a place where they hide law breakers. Sneaking across the border is NOT a constitutional right..
BIG difference!

I'm glad to hear you didn't support it, I really think the use of the term "sanctuary" is just a buzzword, I really don't think they are inviting the type of activity you suggested.

So, you don't support the initiative and you don't support protest against it. Confusing at best. They're not talking about arming felons or anyone precluded from owning firearms who has proven they shouldn't. The sheriff and the people of that town have had it with the heavy hand of government grabbing the rights of honest and law-abiding citizens and...they're actually taking a stand on their beliefs. With AG Ferguson chomping at the bit to further suspend our rights, I applaud the sheriff for his original stand and the town for standing with him.

:yeah:

Makes sense, particularly now, given that Trump is the *ONLY* president ever to openly declare he'd like to violate due process and illegally confiscate firearms.
The ONLY one. EVER.
-
Feel better? Now back to a real threat - WA's liberal politicians.

Ya know speaking emotionally after a tragedy as a younger man vs speaking as a serious policy change or in respect of peoples rights and or laws are 2 not similar things. Wisdom to know the difference evades some Libs.

http://www.ontheissues.org/domestic/barack_obama_gun_control.htm Honestly this is much the same only He didn't outright SAY it but weasel answered many questions. Actions vs words, again. No comparison between the two. Reagan said many Lib things when he was younger as well.

Back in the days of Kennedy, Nixon, and Reagan the 2 parties were not so far apart like they are today. Too bad, governing was much easier then as being bi-partisan didn't automatically get you ousted in the next election.
