Title: Wife and daughter interested in learning to hunt...
Post by: Dadsaster on January 01, 2019, 10:08:22 AM
Both my wife and daughter are interested in learning to bow hunt.  The plan right now is to get them fitted for some bows they can grow with and put a target in the backyard.  My wife and daughter have no real exposure to hunting (and I don't have any).  They both have concerns about ethical hunting, processing animals in the field etc.  My wife has a good friend who hunts elk in Minnesota and she said her state had a few different "get started hunting" courses specifically for women new to the sport.  I haven't been able to find anything similar in Washington.

Does anyone know of hunting groups, programs, classes, organizations or the like that are geared toward women?  We live in Clark County, WA.

Washington Outdoor Women puts on workshops, though the one I hear about most happens during hunting (archery) season..
Really though, the animals don't care who hunts them...
Mike Jenkins of Upfront Outfitters offers "Northwest School for Hunters" , its a little pricey but he knows his stuff.

My wife enjoyed the WOW program she went to. It is unfortunate that they cannot schedule them before hunting seasons start.
