Title: New to the PNW
Post by: Byoung30 on January 01, 2019, 05:37:42 PM
Intermediate hunter here but a complete beginner to hunting Washington. I have no idea where to start as all the regulations and seasons here have been confusing the hell out of me. Super high drive but I’m lost. Looking for a friendly-knowledgeable hunter who’d be willing to take me under their wing.

The best place to spend time in is the regulation handbook. Try mapping it out yourself on a calendar, it really gets your brain wrapped around it.

Another good site for understanding some of the regs: http://huntplanner.us/#

Feel free to PM with any questions.

Like chiwawadan said, write it down!

Personally, when I first moved to Washington and started fishing, I wrote down all the rivers I wanted to fish, the species, and opening and closing dates. That really helped me wrap my head around time frames I needed to be mindful of.

Same thing goes for hunting. Write down what, where and how you want to hunt. Then figure out the rules and regs surrounding your target species! Go through the WDFW website and read everything you can...it helped me alot!
