Title: True wolves vs dog/wolf hybrids
Post by: ThomMedic on February 10, 2019, 05:22:59 PM
Several years ago I encountered an animal on JBLM that at first appeared to be a wolf except it was slightly larger that those seen at Wolf Haven in Tenino. Its markings were Sheppard. It seemed at ease despite the close proximity to people. A few months later an employee at Madigan Army Medical Center told me they had seen such animal between the Madigan campus and the Logistic Center.

A few years later a friend of good friend told several of us that his hobby is breeding wolf/dog hybrids. He further described that there are a lot of other hobbyist in WA doing the same thing. He lived out in the more rural area of Roy. Now there are photos of similar animals on this social site who seem to have been habituated to humans reportedly seen near Mt. Rainier and Pierce County.

My question is - how does this issue of hybrids that have escaped fit into what is happening in WA State with the wolf controversy?

All kidding aside. I used to work with a guy who bred these dogs too. Not sure where he lived but somewhere in western wa not too far from Bellevue. They looked a lot like wolves.

Yup, it happens a lot imop.  Most of em I have seen look 90% wolf.  Cant tell em apart much.  Been going on in W Wa for decades.  They do run away and roam sometimes come back.  As a kid an old farmer had a 50/50 female.  It ran away for 6 months.  Came back whelped litter under front porch then left few months later.  He kept a male pup.  Gorgeous dog.  Big smart, athletic unreal.  BUT if you weren't a friend or an Alpha person you were in trouble!  Not a good family dog imop.  I don't know how time went as I was done working and we didn't hay his land after that.  Adna/Bunker area.  His female breed with a wolf type dog in the hills but who knows what exactly??  The PUP was 100+lbs, tall and looked like pure wolf to us.

Any aggressive animal deserves one shot and done.
These dumb asses who breed these pos dogs and let them go should have some one give them a swift kick in their front quaters.
Same with house cats, they are another killing machine.
