Title: My first homebrew pics suck. need help
Post by: Craig on March 27, 2009, 12:45:44 PM
I have had my cameras out a couple times and can not get them to work right. I have been putting some apples out and when I go check them the apples are gone but there are no pictures on the camera. I finally got  one of them to take pictures. It takes good daytime pictures but nighttime pictures are bad. Any idea how to fix the problem.

I set up my D40 camera and right under it I set up my Homebrew. Here are the pictures from both camreas without any editing to them.

HOMEBREW pictures.

Did you test the homebrew at home in the dark to make sure the flash worked, I assume you did that.  What camera did you use?  What are your dipswitch's set on? If all of that is fine and it worked in the dark during testing, then it  looks like it's working but the flash isn't going off at the right time or if the spots in the pictures are eyeball reflections then the flash may be out of synch possibly from some interference with the other camera flash being so close?

The flash appears to be going off. There is a reflection off the coons eyes.

That could be from the flash of the D40 camera. If the homebrew tested out OK, then I would put some distance between the 2 cameras and see what happens.

I might try just the homebrew by itself. could the flash from the d40 trick the homebrew camera to not make it's own flash not to go off. Camera is a W80. I'm going to set it up in the backyard tonight and make the kids walk around and see if it works.

That's my first guess.
