Just had a .300RUM built. Loaded Remington brass and one out of four or so will not extract. Guy at the range told me that Remington’s .300RUM heads are not to specs and a few thousands smaller than SAMMI. Anyone ever hear of this or had the same issue? I just ordered Nosler brass (since that’s the most popular (besides Remington brass only due to price) so we’ll see how that works.

Buddy had the same issue with his RUM and Winchester brass
Switched her to Norma brass and no issues.

Was your Rum built on a custom action or a Remington action ? if on a Rem action sometimes they have an extraction issue due to poor timing on the bolt handle. I had that issue once with a 7 Rem mag.

Remington action.

This video might help in my case I had Benchmark barrels build me a 7 Rem with an action they supplied their fix was to install a Sako extractor.

Adg is making rum brass now

Are you using a case gauge for your brass? Full length sizing die?
I’ve seen this happen before, especially in semi’s. If your case gauge is off, they won’t eject properly.
I learned about them not long ago and sure glad I did otherwise the 15k 223 I just reloaded would’ve been garbage. Good 20$ investment

It's more likely that your extractor is tweaked a little bit than the case rims are that far out of spec.
Remington extractors aren't that difficult to replace, even if it's the older riveted style. The parts are about $25 although the proper jig to peen the rivet is a little pricey.

No case gauge, but I do full length resize. Just got new Nosler brass and they seem to exract/eject just fine. Albeit they were empty. I’m heading to the range for load development tomorrow am and will report back with extraction/ejection performance using Nosler brass.

Shot the Nosler brass today. Didn’t have any extraction/ejection issues at all. Nosler brass for me👍
