to dance  Got all the majors installed. H-bird 8 gen3 si+mega, 2 scotty 1106B, miller marine track and accessories, add a battery kit, terrova ipilot and drotto boat latch. Been out a few times played mostly but one day fished hard for springers. No blood yet except my own :chuckle: Soon I though! I hope :chuckle:

Going to add a kicker?
-
As of yet no, hoping I don't need one.
-
Looks sharp. Do the electrical wiring yourself?
-
yes sir! it actually was pretty easy and straight forward. A little standing on my head doing circles but not bad.
Going for Kokes Sunday 03/24/19. Might be first blood  minus mine :chuckle:
-
Very nice. Picked up my registration today. I'll be out tomorrow for a final break in tomorrow on my local lake.
-
Awesome! Let the good times float 😉🥃.

I dont think you will get that main motor to idle down enough to troll with?? Even if you could you would be putting a lot of hours on it. A 8hp Yamaha kicker will run you about 3200 (buy in Oregon no tax). A new 115 yamaha will run you over 10k I'm guessing. Plus gas use on a kicker is nill compared to trolling with your main. Just my thoughts Im sure you thought it out.
-
:yeah: a kicker is money well spent.
-
Yeah I hear ya all 😉. I have thought about the kicker and the hrs id save on the main. Right now I think Im good for this yr 😉🥃
Btw if I can’t idle slow enough. I’ll throw out the sea anchors 👍
-
Your satisfaction and ability to fish efficiently will skyrocket with a kicker if you plan to troll much. :twocents:

:yeah:
Sea anchors get to be a pain in the arse. :twocents:

If he plans on doing any significant salmon fishing there is no way he will last long without a kicker. Just give him some time. Fighting a fish with downrigger balls in the water on both sides, sea anchor in the back, hmmm no way it ends well most of the time

you just gave me nightmares for a week :yike: :chuckle:

you wont NEED one but unless you want to go thru 10x the fuel id get one

seen a couple of yami t8 high thrusts on craigslist for under 2k recently.
-
I would pay the xtra 1k and get a new one just so I could sleep better at night knowing I didnt get screwed. You will be glad you did, an have 3-5 year warranty to match that pretty main motor. I would call a couple places in Oregon and get quotes on a new 8hp kicker, and then call the person that sold you your boat. Ask if they will match the price. Power tilt/trim electric start. Go big!

I pick up a few every week that are non runners and flip them for under $500. Most need a carb clean and a water pump that’s it. There’s a Suzuki 9.9 in Shelton for $100 on offer up that’s a cheap gamble.

Two motors are better than one. I actually went pull start on my kicker as added reliability for starting.
Used kicker on a new shiny tricked out fish slaughtering mo'chine..... :puke:
-
The 8 hp is identical to the 9.9 except the carb and decals.
You can pick up a new 9.9 (Merc or Yamaha) for $2,250 for pull start.

oh cmon, a little shine goes a long way :chuckle:
my kicker is pull/elec start....that pull start really came in handy when one of the wires broke off the starter solenoid...i was lazy (or cheap) and actually fished an entire summer before fixing it :dunno:
-
Awesome boat. Lot's of good times ahead. Tight lines!

When I bought my new Lund in 2003, I put an early '70s Johnson 4hp on it. I was quick to point out the lovely rainbow colored oil slick to my wife. She cut me loose to drop another couple grand on a kicker pronto! :chuckle:

wrong. Most 9 and 15 are identical (8 would be identical to 6 in most cases) , except the carb and decal, and a few use a slightly different impeller

You might want to look at a 6hp!8 and the 9.9 are the same.
-
Dont go smaller than an 8hp. Even an 8 is smallish for my 18 footer. Trolls fine, but more often than not I would like just a tad more out of her.
-
My 8 Merc maxes out at 6mph.

For Mercury, here are the weights and displacement straight from their website:
6 - 57 pounds, 123 cc
8 - 84 pounds, 208 cc
9 - 84 pounds, 208 cc
15 - 99 pounds, 333 cc
It's pretty easy to see what ratings share the same motor. You can look at the 15 and 9 and see they aren't the same sized motor.
For Yamaha, same story:
8 hp - 87 pounds, 212 cc
9.9 hp, 87 pounds, 212 cc
15 hp, 111 pounds, 362

I will be out on Lake Stevens on a shake down on my boat Saturday. New Scotty's, new 9.9 Extra Long (2995.00 @ 3 rivers) new stereo and amp with speakers. And New Line counter Abu's and kokanee rods.
-
Looks like a good day for fishing. Of course I cannot think of many bad days.

😱🤑🤑🤑🥃😉
Koke killing machine 😉

@whitey
If you see a shiny new black rhboats center console dragging gear throw me a wave! Hoping to get a trip in to double check my set ups before @Dan-o and I get out for a kokofest.
-
Looks good, I was actually tossing around the idea of hitting Stevens on Sunday.

How much to service a yami 8 horse and yami 80 jet? Oil change, etc.
-
pm me with the year or tag #'s and what you want done

This is a 6 and an 8.

You all best get to it.
I'm telling you right now there won't be a Koke left alive in Western Washington if when H2O takes me out for a morning.

I thought the Yamaha 9.9 and 15 were the same motor just different heads?
-
It's super easy to look up the weights and displacements and see which motors are the same. It may have been different in the past, but for current year motors, I posted the data earlier. It is also pretty obvious if you see them lined up next to each other.
-
I was wrong about the heads, for the two strokes it is the reed valves that are different
“typically the 9.9 has 2 reeds on the reed block and the 15 had 3.
they did it that way for some years here in the states.
with the correct test prop you can actually see the 200 RPM difference on the tach.”
On the 4 stroke I think of kracker is correct
