This was a Washington DIY OTC public land backpack hunt.
Instead of writing it all out i'll just attach a link to the video. I typically hunt archery but because of the 2018 season dates i ended up getting a rifle tag.
Its about 20 min long, Hope you enjoy

Thanks for sharing your hunt. That's a marvelous deer. Great hunt. Congratulations.

 But dang man..canned food. Last time I packed canned food into a hunt was like in the mid 90's. :chuckle:
-
Thanks pianoman. Fishngamereaper, canned food wouldn't have been my first choice either :chuckle:. However, from the time i left the truck till the time i got back i never crossed any water sources. Instead of carrying water in for my mt. house i just decided to bring the cans that already had the water mixed in.
Next time i think I'll look for a place with water close by. It does make me wonder where the deer were finding their water unless they were just getting enough from the morning dew :dunno:

Haha awesome video man! "I really like Ravioli" :chuckle:

I may have been back there once but it was on horseback and I still went in with less food and water than you lol cool video thnks for sharing.

Geez, 101 pounds going in? That’s where I draw the line lol. You’re a tougher man than I sir. Nice buck. How much did the pack weigh coming out?

Im not sure how much it weighed coming out exactly. The 3 gallons of water, 8 cans of ravioli, a few snacks, potatoes and all but one Gatorade bottle were empty.
I do know when i got home i weighed the deboned meat and it was dead on 65 lbs

That is an impressive hike. I've come out at 100 lbs but never gone in at that weight. Taking water is the worst. There is a ridge I want to camp on and glass from but no water and I don't want to hump it up there.
Nice buck, and great video

Job well done. Thanks for sharing.

Good stuff! Well done, I enjoyed your video.

Your a beast. Never would have gone back that far with that much weight. Ideally around 42-46 lbs max for me on the way in. Go in light and come out heavier. You went in heavier than crap and opened a can of whoop a$$ on your way out. lol. 24lb of water can go fast though. Dehydrated meals and locate water sources, wet springs etc. Filter the water.
What would you do different on your next pack in hunt? Cut weight & ??
-
Yea I like to go in with 145lbs and come out with 250ish on my hunts :chuckle:
-
Awesome video in so many ways, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the Complements, im glad your all enjoying it. H2ofowlr (what would i do different next time) 🤔 ?
Probably find a new spot to hunt, Some place that has access to water :chuckle:. I think thats the reason i didn't see any other hunters or boot tracks.
