do any of you guys own our ever shot Taurus model 44 44mag. and if so whats your take on it ?

i have owned and shot the heck out of several.  not as smooth as a S&W or as strong as a Ruger, but decent guns.  HARD to get parts for if it breaks.  I have had one in the shop for almost a year looking for parts or even a parts gun.

They're good guns for the average shooter. If you plan to shoot it a lot it may not hold up for too long. If you're only going to go out and shoot 50 rounds through it every trip and it only comes out once a month I think you'd do well with it.

I've had a handful of different Taurus revolvers ranging from little 38s up to a Raging Bull 454 and they all shot pretty well and functioned exactly how I'd expect them too. I had close to 3000 rounds of full power 41 mag loads through a model 425 Titanium Tracker before I sold it. That little gun took a beating but held up pretty well. It was a little loose by the time I sold it, but the guy who bought it planned to carry it a lot and shoot it a little so it wasn't an issue.
