Title: Elk- party application
Post by: Wazntme on April 19, 2019, 03:55:41 AM
If 4 people apply for a hunt and three guys have one point and one guy has 6 points how will that work out? I can’t find where this is broken down in the regs. Will it be an advantage for the three guys or a disadvantage for the one guy?

1+1+1+6/4 = 2.25 Average

They have always taken the average of all people in the group application.
I’m not sure if that’s how it is this year, but I’m guessing it’s the same.

I was always under the impression that for each point you had, your name was put in the drawing.  So if you had 6 points, you name was in the pot six times.  And if anyone in the party gets drawn, then everyone in the party gets a tag.  So, 1+1+1+6=9 chances.  Again, this is just how I understood it, but ive been known to be wrong in the past.  Just ask the wife  :chuckle:

I know it all comes out in the wash but your points are actually squared 2=4  3=9  4=16

:yeah: They are averaged together for groups.

With all of the improvements ;) to the website I can't find it (or much else), but that's the way it has been ever since applying as a group has been possible.

issue becomes if/when your party application gets drawn, there needs to be that number of tags left, or youll get passed up.  so if you're applying for a tag that has 25 tags, 24 have been drawn, then your party gets drawn for number 25, they move onto the next number and you get the always fun 'not selected'
my understanding at least

I do believe they always round up so in this scenario you would have three points squared which would give you nine names in the Hat. Now if the guy that had six points applied by himself he would have 36 names in the Hat and if the guys with one point applied by themselves they would have one name in the Hat
