Title: The one that got away?
Post by: AL WORRELLS KID on April 19, 2019, 10:25:38 AM
Ever think you must have missed the shot, after searching and circling for what seems forever?  :(
After seeing this, I'll be giving the trail a better look see the next time around.  :'(
( This shows the amazing resiliency of a determined animal to survive.)

I've recovered 2 different broad heads, one out of an elk and one out of a deer.  I've also recovered an old bullet out of an elk and tons of shot out of birds.  This year I got 6 or 7 geese with .22 cal pellets in them.  They must have been munching on someone's golf course.

Critter got to live but every breathe he took had to be painful for the rest of his life.

That’s amazing! I’ve pulled 2 broadheads out of elk before and neither were lethal shots. Tough critters

I used to hunt an island that was shotgun only. Both bucks that I shot there had buckshot pellets under the skin on both sides of the animals. I think some of the pellets had worked their way out the flesh.

Seen several spine shots like that on whitetail.
