anybody draw or hunt the steptoe quality tag in years past, did you hunt hitetails or mule deer and how did it go
-
The way stuff gets shot out every year over there I can't imagine it's very good for muleys. May be a good whitetail to be had though
-
The late tag which is the Palouse tag is whitetail only
-
The Palouse is a buck tag for whitetail. The steptoe u also has a quality tag nov 20-24 that doesn’t state species of deer.
-
For 95% of guys, the end result of those tags won’t be much different than the general season hunts. Success rates will be higher, access may be little easier, deer will be more visible, etc. but quality will be similar. Access to the best private ground is the key to mature animals in that country and if you don’t have it now, you won’t get it. Those places are locked down and that’s why they produce quality for the few with access.

when do the eastern washignton area mule deer rut, late/mid nov?
-
I know 5 people that had it. People above hit it on the head. Also, the mulies seem to be rutted out by then. Of the 5, most were bucks that you would be ok with opening day.....no joke.

polish, i sent you a pm
-
I had the tag would not waste Q point on it again it’s all but impossible to get permission to hunt land that holds deer.

Ive watched mature muleys running does all over as early as Oct 20. To me the best dates are Nov 5-12
