Title: whats your favorite powder for your 30 caliber rifle?
Post by: Oh Mah on May 25, 2019, 12:52:30 PM: I'm doing some research and asking questions to get polling statistics for loading.

What is your favorite,works best for you accuracy wise for your 30 caliber rile loads?

If you don't reload please don't answer with others opinions. :tup:

In the 308 I always like IMR 4064 with 168gr bullets; the 30-06 was Reloader 19 with 180s; 300 Win Mag with 180-200gr bullets is anything in the H1000 range; 300 RUM is IMR 7828 with 180-200gr and Retumbo for everything heavier.

Post by: carpsniperg2 on May 25, 2019, 02:01:19 PM: Standard like 308 I love me some IMR 4064. In the magnums I have the most love for H4831 seems like anything magnum loves it. I do run H1000 and retumbo in a few others like my 30-378.

Post by: b23 on May 26, 2019, 01:49:02 AM: The only 30 cal I currently reload for is my 300AX (Kirby Allen's version of 30-338 Lapua Improved) and with the 230 Bergers I'm using US869.

Jeff "Broz" Brozovich has probably spent as much time with the 300 Win mag and 30 Nosler as anyone and Jeff's "go to" powders for those are H1000 and Viht N570.

Post by: wooltie on May 30, 2019, 03:32:19 PM: Reloading 30-06. I did try IMR4350 with 165 & 180 g bullets, but couldn't get anything to group - especially the 180s, and those da*n accubonds.

I bedded the action and put the action in a manners, and now shoot 165s & 180s with H4350 and I am seeing good groups. Could be the stock sway, and potentially the bullets because I changed bullets.

Always shot 150s with IMR4064 and see good results.

And seeing respectable velocities across the board.
