Title: Limb or cable driven rests

The limb drivers are nice, and function great, but I like the shorter line to the cable rather than a long line to the bottom limb. If it were a target setup I would take a hamskea over about anything, but for my hunting bow I’m 100% cable driven.

On limb driven rests brush can yank on that long cord and change the starting position of the launcher, which slightly changes the timing of the rest. Even with cords that have been prestreched on a jig with 100lbs tension on them, and extremely tight knots that don’t move. Anyone hunting the wetside knows the amount of brush we have to push through.
Does this small change in timing affect point of impact? Not sure but it’s enough for me to lose confidence in them. I can yank on my short cord attached to my cable and all it does is get tighter, since it’s attached with a small knot and serving, and the timing of my rest is unaffected.

I prefer the QAD HDX. Easy to set up and never had one fail in over 10 years. They’ve even sent me free parts when I emailed to buy some. Great company.

Post by: J.Brower on July 06, 2019, 05:13:55 PM: If you go cable driven look into the HHA Virtus, same design as the QAD but a little better IMO. They removed some moving parts internally and simplified the mechanism. Plus a percentage of each sale goes to help Veterans.

Post by: hughjorgan on July 06, 2019, 05:47:12 PM: I’ve shot limb drivers and trophy taker smack down all limb driven. Don’t ever have to worry about the cable since it is protected by your arrow quiver. They are simple to set up, nothing to mess with on your cable to affect timing and easy to repair but have never had to or have I ever heard of anyone having too while hunting.
